April 30th dawned with unusual excitement and 4.30 saw me onbaord a plane to DELHI.Delhi welcomed me with gentle showers almost cooling the citty for me.......Beyond boundaries arranged for us to be trsnsported to a hotel in Karol bagh.Spotting a Sravan bavan nearby i returned after gleefuly devouring idlis and sambarthough not up to our saravana bavan standard.
1ST OF May and we were all at the airport by 6am.and boarded the flight to Katmandu. There we shifted to the domestic terminaland boarded a small craft to Pokra. In Pokra we stayed in hotel Mount Annapoorna right oposite the airport. Aafter a nice lunch cooked and served by 4 cooks from Chennaiwe took a samll nap and left for some sight seeing.Wwe saw the Swetha kandakiwhich flows milky white.and falls into a huge gorge with a big noiseand its like milk falling in big volumes. This river water is channelised and supplies water to the city of Pokra.
From Pokra we left the 3rd May with breakfast lunch and dinner packed and all of us carrying our food pakts.Landing in th e smallquiant little town of Jomsom we had br fast and walked a good 40 minutes to the jeep point.Because of the bandh in Nepal we walked and alighted jeeps in a far end of the small village. From there a jeep took the first group to Rani pauwa.the jeep rides thru the river bed which was dry then.and then a climb up the Himalayas.Reaching Rani paua we gave our bags for safe keeping and one by one we took a motor bike ride up to the temple. It is a 5 minute ride but very thirilling because the rider goes up winding paths and the thought that we drove by jeep ,by bus ,by a small dornier aircraft and now by a motor bike was very very exciting. It was 13ooo feet high and breathing was a little difficult.
I was very lucky becos i was one of the first to reach Mukthinath temple and had a lot of time to look around.I saw a semi circle of water jets.108 to be exactand water coming from all these.Bracing myself I threw a small towel on my head and went into the water and came out completely wet but very happy that i did it all alone too.drying myself in a room of sorts i headed to the temple which was closed.....thankfully a white couople (tourists)came along and the buddhist lady opened the temple for us and i had a very leisurely darshan(as none of the others had reached)i stayed up there for almost 2 hours and came down by a motor bike,
The perumal there is Shree Murthiwith his two consorts. He sits pleasantly smiling with 4 hands with a real conch in one ,a chakra in another and lotus flowers inthe other two hands.
It is said that there are very strong positive vibrations therebut I realised that reaching the kshetra is initself a big yoga.
We returned from RaniPauwa the next day and reached Kat,mandu but stayed in the hotel due to Bandh.
after visiting Mukthinath we sincerely suggest that friends and relative s shoud visit it at a younger age.
Mukthinath Ki Jai.
Its interesting that my parents too made the same trip at the same time
